Playing with Fire
A few days ago I started playing GW2 again.
It’s been tons of fun playing through the content I left off of last time - the issue that led me to drop the game awhile back was the lack of challenge for my chosen classes, warrior and thief. On their own these classes are great to play but when I drop them into say a story instance, they cut through their enemys without issue and that was what put me off the game for a while.
It sounds odd but it is what it is. This was the issue, and on a whim after seeing GW2 content on my dash I decided to give the game another chance, this time by picking a class known for its squishyness: elementalist.
Initially the gameplay felt slow but satisfying, then while progressing through the core story (default/base with the game) I found that elementalist - aka “ele” was fantastic for crowd control. It took some struggling and annoyance in learning how the class worked and what specs were best for it, but once I learnt how it worked it was impossible to go back to warrior or thief. Elementalist has excellent crowd control compared to the prior classes and the experience is pretty clean.
It must have been a) that I felt bored feeling almost invincible all the time and b) that crowd control is something I like for my characters/classes. Either one of those or I’m weird.
Don’t know how to end this post, so happy easter.
